Saudi Aramco enhances energy security through infrastructure resilience and European supply
Saudi Aramco is strengthening its ability to maintain oil production despite regional conflicts by investing in emergency response capabilities, technology, and supply chain preparedness. CEO Amin Nasser stated that the company’s response capabilities have improved significantly, allowing teams to address infrastructure incidents more than six times faster than the industry average. To support this, Aramco has developed specialized repair teams, expanded critical equipment inventories, and implemented drone-assisted inspections to accelerate recovery following damage to pipelines and facilities.
Approximately 90% of the materials required for repairs are now manufactured domestically or available through local warehouses. These measures follow lessons learned from previous disruptions, such as the 2019 Abqaiq facility attacks and 2026 drone attacks on the East-West pipeline.
In a parallel effort to bolster global energy security, Saudi Aramco is offering additional crude oil cargoes for immediate delivery to European refineries between late October and mid-November. This move aims to stabilize energy markets and ensure uninterrupted supply. Additionally, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman confirmed plans to expand oil pipeline capacity to approximately 10 million barrels per day over the next two to three years to increase transport flexibility.
