Saudi Aramco's Chinese refinery receives first crude oil shipment
Saudi Aramco has announced that its joint venture refinery in Panjin City, Liaoning province, has received its first shipment of Saudi crude oil. The delivery marks a significant milestone as the facility prepares for upcoming operations.
The Huajin Aramco Petrochemical Company (HAPCO) is a joint venture involving Saudi Aramco (30%), China’s NORINCO Group (51%), and Panjin Xincheng Industrial Group (19%). The integrated complex is designed to process 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day and includes a petrochemical unit with an annual capacity of 1.65 million metric tons of ethylene and 2 million metric tons of paraxylene.
While the project was originally expected to be operational in 2026, commercial operations are now projected to commence in the first quarter of 2027. Under the agreement, Saudi Aramco will supply up to 210,000 barrels per day of crude oil feedstock to the facility.
