Saudi Crown Prince chairs Cabinet meeting in Riyadh
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman presided over a Saudi Cabinet meeting in Riyadh, where he briefed members on his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa regarding bilateral cooperation and regional developments.
The Cabinet reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s full support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate government in Yemen, aiming to end the Houthi militia coup and restore state institutions. The Council noted that Houthi military escalations have deepened humanitarian suffering and threatened maritime navigation in the southern Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Additionally, the Council praised the outcomes of the emergency meeting of the Makkah Defense Pact’s Strategic Political and Defense Committee. The meeting emphasized solidarity among member states against attacks on the Kingdom, including those targeting Makkah, Medina, and civilian and economic facilities. The Pact agreed to activate collective deterrence and move toward the practical implementation of joint defense commitments to enhance military readiness.
Finally, the Cabinet commended King Salman bin Abdulaziz’s annual royal speech to the Shura Council, highlighting the achievements of Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s economic and developmental reforms.
