Saudi Crown Prince meets UAE Vice President in Riyadh

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with United Arab Emirates Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Riyadh on Tuesday. The meeting, described as a ‘fraternal visit’ following an invitation from Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, marks a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

The discussions focused on bilateral relations and regional developments. This rapprochement follows a period of tension between the two allies regarding their respective roles and interests in Yemen. The diplomatic movement occurs as Saudi Arabia faces intensified pressure from Houthi forces, who have recently conducted missile and drone attacks against the kingdom and seized control of parts of the Yemeni Red Sea coast.

While the two countries have signaled a detente in recent months, the security situation in Yemen remains a critical backdrop to their renewed cooperation. Saudi Arabia has been seeking international support to counter the Houthi advance and protect its infrastructure.
