Saudi Royal Family cancels Madeira visit over privacy concerns

The Saudi Royal Family has cancelled a planned visit to Madeira, citing a violation of privacy after details of the trip were leaked in advance. The delegation, which was expected to include Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Princess Sara bint Mashour Al Saud, had reportedly arranged for a stay at luxury hotels such as the Savoy Palace.

Prior to the cancellation, a Saudi Boeing 787 Dreamliner had already landed at Madeira International Airport to conduct runway reconnaissance tests. While local media had reported that the Prince and a large entourage of approximately 50 people were scheduled to arrive for a two-week stay, the Public Security Police (PSP) stated they had no active security operations in place and were unaware of any official program for the visit.

Several local businesses and service providers in Madeira had already prepared for the arrival, but have since reported cancellations following the change in plans.
