Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly made two phone calls to US President Donald Trump on Thursday, requesting direct US military strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen. The request comes as Houthi forces advance toward the strategic coastal city of Mocha and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a critical waterway for global trade and Saudi oil exports.

President Trump rejected the request for direct military intervention. US officials stated that the administration intends to avoid opening a new military front in Yemen, preferring to keep American forces focused on Iran and the security of the Strait of Hormuz. Instead of direct combat, the US plans to provide Saudi Arabia with intelligence and targeting data to support their operations.

Approximately 200 US military personnel are currently stationed in Saudi Arabia providing non-kinetic, non-combat support. Meanwhile, US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper traveled to Riyadh for urgent coordination meetings to manage the escalating regional tensions.
