Saudi entertainment industry drives economic and social change

A doctoral study conducted at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport has identified the entertainment industry as a key driver of economic, social, and cultural transformation in Saudi Arabia. Aligned with the goals of Vision 2030, the research highlights how the sector supports national economic diversification, improves quality of life, attracts investment, and creates employment opportunities.

The study, titled ‘The Impact of the Entertainment Industry on Social Change and its Contribution to Economic Growth in Light of Saudi Vision 2030’, emphasizes the role of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) in initiating significant social progress. To maximize impact, the research recommends strategic expansion of entertainment facilities and events into regions beyond Riyadh and Jeddah to ensure a broader distribution of economic benefits.

Additional recommendations include supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through financial incentives, promoting national content to preserve cultural identity, and prioritizing the localization of jobs. The study stresses the importance of specialized training programs to equip Saudi youth with the professional skills necessary to manage and operate projects within this growing sector.
