Red Sea International Film Festival postponed to 2027

The Red Sea Film Foundation has announced the postponement of the sixth edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, originally scheduled for December 3–12, 2026. The event will now take place in the fourth quarter of 2027.

The foundation stated the decision followed a comprehensive review of logistical requirements and timing to ensure the festival is held under the right conditions to deliver its signature experience. While the festival is being rescheduled, the foundation’s year-round initiatives, including the Red Sea Fund and Red Sea Labs, will continue to operate.

The festival, which is a major cinematic event and market in the Arab world, was established in 2019 following the lifting of Saudi Arabia’s ban on commercial cinemas. The postponement occurs amid broader regional security concerns, including tensions involving Houthi militants in the Red Sea, which have previously impacted other international events in the kingdom.
