Saudi Finance Minister attends AIIB annual meeting in Doha
Saudi Arabian Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan participated in the 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) held in Doha, Qatar. The meeting, themed ‘Future Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation,’ took place on September 28–29, 2026.
During the proceedings, Al-Jadaan emphasized that the bank's success should be measured by developmental impact rather than just the volume of financing or project approvals. He noted that progress should manifest through improved infrastructure services, stronger institutions, greater economic resilience, and increased private sector participation.
Al-Jadaan called for enhanced communication with member states to better understand national priorities and infrastructure gaps. He also urged the AIIB to collaborate closely with other multilateral development banks and international organizations to share expertise, avoid duplication, and secure additional resources. He stressed that the bank's approach must remain driven by the specific needs of each country, accounting for differences in institutional capacity and fiscal space.
