Saudi Food and Drug Authority signs cooperation MoU with Singapore’s HSA
Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadaie, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), met with Dr. Raymond Chua, CEO of Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA), during the 30th annual meeting of the International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF) in Singapore.
The meeting resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise in regulating and monitoring products. Key areas of collaboration include the exchange of technical legislation, standards, and scientific risk assessments. The agreement also covers laboratory testing, supply chain inspection, clinical studies, and the mutual notification of product safety reports.
Both parties emphasized the importance of utilizing biotechnology and artificial intelligence in regulatory work. Dr. Al-Jadaie highlighted Saudi Arabia’s efforts to build an integrated ecosystem for medical innovation through digital platforms, data governance, and regulatory sandboxes to ensure emerging technologies are safe, effective, and scalable.
