Saudi Fund for Development to finance Kosovo road and hospital projects
The Kosovo government and the Saudi Fund for Development are advancing several major infrastructure and healthcare projects. Following meetings between Kosovar officials, including Finance Minister Hekuran Murati and Infrastructure Minister Dimal Basha, it was confirmed that the Saudi Fund will provide 12.3 million euros to finance the final Smrekonicë-Mitrovica segment of the Prishtina-Mitrovica national road. This project, which has been ongoing since 2009, will be completed with additional funding from the Kosovo government.
In addition to roadworks, discussions have moved toward a new 20 million dollar project to construct a modern pulmonology hospital at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK).
Separately, the Kosovo government has approved a budget reallocation of 102 million euros. This funding is intended to cover the 13th salary for public sector employees, address experience-based pay supplements, and support the rising costs associated with an increasing number of pensioners.
