Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, has begun an official visit to Mauritius following two days of private stay. This marks the first time a Saudi minister in this role has visited the island.

Responding to an invitation from Mauritian Minister Shakeel Mohamed, the delegation's schedule includes meetings in Ebène and a visit to the Islamic Cultural Centre (ICC) to consult with mosque representatives and pilgrimage operators.

The visit focuses on three primary objectives: maintaining the 1,500 visa quota for 2026 despite general Saudi reductions, negotiating better service quality and accommodations under Saudi Arabia’s new streamlined system, and managing the digital transition to assist pilgrims with new online procedures.
