Saudi Health Ministry Signs 15‑Year Contract to Operate SABIC Mental‑Health Hospital in Riyadh
The Saudi Ministry of Health, together with the National Center for Privatization, signed a 15‑year operating agreement with a private alliance led by the Specialized Medical Company to run the SABIC Specialized Hospital for Mental Health in Riyadh. The facility, built by SABIC, spans 62,500 m², includes 150 inpatient beds, day‑care clinics and 19 outpatient clinics, and is slated to begin operations in early 2027.
The partnership is part of the Kingdom’s health‑sector transformation programme, aiming to raise service quality, increase efficiency, expand capacity for mental‑health care, shorten waiting lists and improve patient experience. It follows the recent opening of the new Iradah Mental‑Health Complex headquarters in February 2026 and supports ongoing efforts to expand mental‑health and addiction treatment facilities across Saudi Arabia.
