Saudi health regulator reports 6,720 facility inspections by June 2026

The General Authority for Accreditation and Health Regulation (GAHAR) completed 6,720 regulatory visits to accredited health facilities up to the end of June 2026. The visits comprised 2,012 technical and clinical inspections, 2,428 administrative reviews, and 2,280 patient‑experience assessments, which included more than 186,000 questionnaires.

During the 2025/2026 fiscal year, GAHAR performed 2,100 visits, marking a 31% rise in administrative checks and a 21% increase in technical inspections compared with the previous year. The inspections covered all levels of care, beginning with primary health‑center units, followed by hospitals, laboratories, imaging centers, pharmacies, clinics, physiotherapy units, and mental‑health hospitals. The authority emphasized that accreditation is not the end of the quality journey; continuous monitoring aims to sustain compliance with internationally recognised standards, improve patient safety, and enforce corrective actions, including possible suspension or revocation of accreditation for serious violations.
