Saudi Journalists Association hosts Taif seminar on national history

The Taif branch of the Saudi Journalists Association hosted a discussion session titled ‘Saudi National Day in Historical Narrative and Saudi Journalism.’ The event, held at the Jaw Al Ward Resort in Al Hada, featured Dr. Latifa Al-Adwani, President of the Taif History Center, and was moderated by Dr. Saad Al-Mutrafi.

The session explored the National Day as a pillar of national memory and highlighted Taif’s historical role as the starting point for the unification of the Kingdom. Discussions covered the evolution of the state from its founding to the modern development era under Saudi Vision 2030.

Dr. Al-Adwani emphasized the importance of historical documentation and the role of the Saudi press in shaping national identity. She specifically noted the historical significance of ‘Umm Al-Qura’ newspaper, established by King Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1924, as a primary source for royal decrees and national events. Other historical publications, such as ‘Sawt Al-Hijaz,’ ‘Al-Bilad,’ and ‘Al-Madina,’ were also recognized for their contributions to the Kingdom’s historical record.
