Saudi airports targeted by Houthi attacks, killing three

Houthi rebels in Yemen have launched a series of attacks targeting major Saudi Arabian airports, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport. According to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the strikes on Tuesday and Wednesday resulted in three deaths and 36 injuries. The deceased include citizens from Morocco, Algeria, and Sudan, while the injured comprise a mix of Saudi, Egyptian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Filipino nationals.

In response to the attacks on civilian infrastructure, the Saudi-led coalition announced large-scale retaliatory strikes across four Yemeni provinces—Saada, Al-Hudaydah, Al-Jawf, and Marib. The coalition reported the destruction of 82 Houthi military targets, including 11 ballistic missile storage sites, command centers, and communication systems.

Separately, the Yemen Ministry of Transport reported that Houthi forces targeted Aden International Airport with ballistic missiles and drones. A Yemenia flight from Cairo was forced to divert to Jeddah to avoid a missile that landed near the runway. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the Saudi airport strikes, warning international airlines that Saudi airspace has become an operational theater, with the exception of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
