Saudi Minister of Justice outlines commercial judiciary development plan

Saudi Minister of Justice Dr. Walid bin Mohammed Al-Sumani has announced that the next phase of developing the commercial judiciary will focus on enhancing institutional maturity and judicial quality. During a meeting with heads of commercial courts, the Minister emphasized improving judicial outcomes, clarifying procedures, and enhancing the experience for legal service beneficiaries.

Key strategic priorities include the expanded use of data and artificial intelligence to accelerate case resolutions, predict potential delays, and redesign the judicial process for greater efficiency. Al-Sumani also stressed the importance of continuous training for judges and using beneficiary feedback and complaints to address recurring procedural issues.

Recent statistics highlight the impact of these technological advancements, noting that over 660,000 judicial sessions were conducted remotely and more than 250,000 electronic judgments were issued during the first quarter of 2026. The institutional approach has reportedly increased judgment predictability by approximately 70 percent.
