Saudi Municipal Innovation Hackathon 2026 concludes

The Makkah and Eastern Province municipalities, in partnership with the Digital Government Authority and Wadi Makkah Technology Company, have concluded the Municipal Innovation Hackathon 2026. The event brought together 15 teams to develop technological solutions for urban challenges, focusing on artificial intelligence, data, and emerging technologies to improve municipal services and quality of life.

Three winning projects received a total of 75,000 SAR in prizes. The Impact Map team secured first place with the ‘Daqiqa’ project in the beneficiary experience and digital services track. The Rikaz team took second place with the ‘Namaa’ project focused on environmental sustainability, while the ‘Moaem’ project earned third place for its solution regarding professional and construction requirements for commercial licenses.

The hackathon featured five main tracks: urban development and smart cities, environmental sustainability, beneficiary experience and digital services, emerging technologies and data management, and spending efficiency and financial sustainability.
