Saudi Pro League launches new content distribution model

The Saudi Pro League (SPL) has launched a new international content distribution model called ‘Share and Earn’, powered by the technology infrastructure of Recast. This initiative aims to modernize sports broadcasting by allowing players, clubs, and content creators to participate directly in the distribution and monetization of live Roshn Saudi League matches.

Under this scheme, approved participants can share digital links to specific matches or match bundles via their social media platforms. When fans use these links to access the league’s streaming service, the system automatically tracks transactions and distributes a share of the generated revenue to the creators. This model is designed to leverage the growing creator economy and the massive social media followings of players like Al Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

In addition to individual creators, selected publishers may be authorized to host official live or on-demand league content directly on their own platforms. The program is initially available in 16 territories, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, and several Scandinavian countries. SPL Chief Executive Omar Mugharbel stated that the move responds to changing fan engagement habits, shifting from traditional broadcaster-rights holder relationships toward digital communities and trusted creators.
