Electronic Arts to go private in $55 billion Saudi-led deal

Electronic Arts announced that all required regulatory approvals have been secured, clearing the way for the $55 billion acquisition by a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) together with private‑equity firm Silver Lake and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners. The merger is slated to close at the close of trading on August 4, 2026, after which EA will cease to be listed on Nasdaq and become a privately held company. Under the agreed ownership structure, PIF will hold 93.4% of the shares, Silver Lake 5.5%, and Affinity Partners 1.1%. CEO Andrew Wilson will remain in his role and the company’s headquarters will stay in Redwood City, California. The financing package combines roughly $36 billion of equity with $20 billion of new debt, prompting concerns about future cost‑cutting measures and possible studio restructurings.
