Saudi UN Envoy Calls for End to Israeli Occupation and Two‑State Solution

Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz Alwasil, addressed the Security Council on behalf of the Arab Group, saying lasting peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without ending Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory.

He demanded the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, condemned Israeli actions such as settlement expansion, land confiscation, home demolitions, displacement and annexation, and warned these violate international law and threaten regional stability. Alwasil urged the Council to support a permanent cease‑fire in Gaza, ensure sustained humanitarian access, preserve the status quo at holy sites, and uphold the UN Charter’s responsibilities to end the occupation and protect Palestinian rights.
