In Norfolk County, Matthew Smith has pleaded guilty to three counts of arson following a series of fires that targeted barns and vacant houses between October 2024 and January 2025. His co-accused, Chad Reimer, previously pleaded guilty to two arson charges and received a conditional sentence of two years less a day.

In a separate legal matter in Sarnia, Ryan Whiteway was found guilty of attempted murder and aggravated assault. The conviction stems from a 2024 incident in which Whiteway stabbed a police constable during a wellness check in a downtown condo building.
