Savaş Öğüş wins silver at World Karate Championships

Savaş Öğüş, a 19-year-old national karateka from the Eyyübiye district of Şanlıurfa, has secured second place at the World Cadet, Junior, and U21 Karate Championships held in Poland from October 14–18.

Competing in the U21 men's kumite 67 kg category, Öğüş advanced through the ranks to reach the final. Having started karate nine years ago as a hobby to occupy his spare time, he has since become a seven-time Turkish champion.

Training at the AK Evler Sports Hall under coach Ahmet Küçük, Öğüş emphasized the importance of perseverance and utilizing municipal sports facilities. He encouraged young people to dedicate their free time to sports, stating that through hard work and determination, ‘nothing is impossible.’
