Guthrie, 54, said the project feels “strange” amid the ongoing search for her 84‑year‑old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who vanished from her Tucson home on 31 January 2026 and is still missing.

The disappearance has sparked a contentious investigation. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos faces criticism after allegedly withholding FBI assistance and allegedly lying under oath about past police suspensions; the county board referred perjury accusations to the state attorney general. Federal agents continue to process DNA and digital evidence, while Guthrie repeatedly pleads for public help, promising “we will never stop looking for you.” The dual news cycle links the high‑profile TV launch with a high‑stakes missing‑person case, drawing national attention to both the entertainment venture and the criminal investigation.
