Savannah Guthrie's mother missing in Arizona, family endures months of trauma

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona home on 31 January 2024. Today co‑host Savannah Guthrie said the disappearance has caused "five months of agony and unending trauma" for her family and thanked the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Office for their ongoing investigation.

Sheriff Chris Nanos noted the case remains active, mentioning that genealogical evidence could link a suspect to the crime. The investigation has included several ransom letters, some of which were later shown to be fraudulent. In June, Derrick Callela pleaded guilty to sending a fake ransom demand and was charged with two counts of harassment, facing up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Authorities continue to seek information, offering rewards and releasing surveillance footage of an unidentified individual near the home. Savannah Guthrie has urged the public to come forward with any tips that could lead to her mother’s safe return.
