Savar police arrest five for repeated rape of madrasa student

Police in Savar have arrested five individuals, including two teachers, in connection with the repeated rape and abuse of a seven-year-old madrasa student over a six-month period. The arrests were made following operations across several districts, including Dhaka, Gazipur, Sirajganj, Bhola, and Barguna.

The suspects include two teachers, Jaber Hossain (21) and Md. Kamrul Islam (26), and three students aged 12, 13, and 15. According to police, the three students and teacher Jaber Hossain are accused of rape, while Kamrul Islam is accused of physically abusing the child to prevent the incident from being reported to his family.

The case was initiated after the victim's father filed an application with the Dhaka Metropolitan Child Violence Suppression Tribunal on August 23. The court directed the Savar Model Police Station to register the complaint as a formal case. The original complaint names ten individuals, including five students, four teachers, and the director of the madrasa. Dhaka District Police stated they are treating the matter with high priority and expect to arrest the remaining suspects soon.
