Savarkar kin admits Nathuram Godse was active RSS member in court
During a defamation case involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Pune, Satyaki Savarkar, the grandson of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, admitted in court that Nathuram Godse and his brother Gopal Godse were active members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
During cross-examination, Satyaki Savarkar confirmed family links between the Savarkar and Godse families, noting that Gopal Godse was his maternal grandfather. He also stated that his mother and Gopal Godse worked for the Hindu Mahasabha until their deaths.
Congress MP Pawan Khera reacted to the testimony, stating that the admission serves as a contradiction to the RSS's historical position of disowning Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi. Khera described the statement as a “stinging slap” to the organization.
