SAVE Act Voter ID Bill Stalled in Senate Amid Trump’s “Last Republican President” Warning

Republican Representative Kevin Hahn secured the Republican nomination in the Oklahoma Senate primary, emphasizing his support for the American Voter Eligibility Protection (SAVE) Act. Hahn noted that voters repeatedly ask about the SAVE Act, a voter‑ID and citizenship verification measure that has passed the House but is blocked in the Senate, largely due to unanimous Democratic opposition and a filibuster.

President Donald Trump publicly warned that if the SAVE America Act is not passed, he could become the “last Republican president.” He urged Senate Republicans to eliminate the filibuster and approve the legislation, framing it as essential to the party’s future. The bill’s opponents argue it would make voting harder for certain groups, such as married women who change their names. Trump called on Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Republican senators to act swiftly, linking the bill’s fate to the survival of the Republican Party.

Both the primary victory and Trump’s warning highlight growing intra‑party pressure to advance the SAVE Act despite its legislative stall.
