Save Your Photos Month promotes global preservation efforts
September marks National Save Your Photos Month, a global awareness campaign focused on protecting photo and video memories from damage caused by time or natural disasters. To support the movement, Epson is partnering with The Photo Managers for the “One Photo, One Story” campaign. This initiative encourages individuals to share a meaningful photo and its accompanying history on social media to ensure the stories behind the images are not lost.
In Canada, institutions like the University of British Columbia highlight the importance of preservation through their collections. Notable examples include early Vancouver photo albums featuring albumen prints and Eric Hegg’s Klondike Gold Rush collection, which captures landscapes and people from the late 19th century. These archives demonstrate the historical value of maintaining both physical and digital photographic records.
