Saveta Bogdan criticizes Mamaia Folclor 2026 selection process

Folk singer Saveta Bogdan has expressed disappointment regarding her exclusion from the Mamaia Folclor 2026 festival, scheduled for August 26–28. The 80-year-old artist criticized the selection process, alleging that invitations are based on nepotism and connections rather than merit, comparing the current state of the industry to the communist era.

Bogdan noted that while the festival features many young performers, there are very few established artists from the ‘Golden Generation’ included on the lineup. She also expressed frustration that TVR, the broadcaster for the event, appears to overlook veteran artists who have contributed to the network's programming for decades.
