Savica Waterfall Reinstates Admission Fee in Slovenia

Starting 1 August, the Savica waterfall in the Triglav National Park will again charge an admission fee. Visitors aged 16 and over must pay €4, while younger guests can still enter for free. The fee had been suspended in April but is being reintroduced after a stewardship agreement was signed on 24 July between the public institution Triglav National Park, the Tourism Bohinj organization and the Municipality of Bohinj.

The agreement follows a 2025 amendment to the Nature Conservation Act that permits chargeable entry to protected natural sites. Revenue from the €4 fee will be earmarked for the waterfall’s maintenance, environmental protection and local infrastructure, according to park director Uroš Brežan. The site will be open daily with seasonal opening‑hour variations and may close temporarily for safety during severe weather conditions.
