Savigliano begins cemetery restoration works

The municipality of Savigliano has commenced restoration work on the oldest section of its municipal cemetery to address structural damage caused by ground subsidence. The intervention aims to repair tombs and chapels affected by shifting terrain, a problem linked to the area's geological history of former marshes and river flooding.

The city has allocated approximately 350,000 euros for these specific repairs. Additionally, the municipality spends roughly 270,000 euros annually on ordinary cemetery maintenance.

A four-year contract for cemetery services has been awarded to the Cooperativa Servizi Piemontesi of Pinerolo, effective from September 1, 2025, until August 31, 2029. While the main cemetery undergoes these works, the municipality continues to manage the cemeteries in the districts of Levaldigi and San Salvatore using its own staff.
