Savina Monastery celebrates patronal feast of the Dormition

Savina Monastery celebrated its patronal feast, the Dormition of the Mother of God, with religious services led by Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral. The celebrations included a Holy Hierarchical Liturgy and evening services attended by clergy and local officials, including the Mayor of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katić.

During the services, Metropolitan Joanikije emphasized the spiritual importance of the Virgin Mary as an inspiration and protector for the faithful. Following the liturgy, a memorial service was held for the late Bishop Gerasim Petranović, who is buried at the monastery.

The festivities also included the Svetouspenska Academy held at the ‘Cyrillic Square’, where scholars discussed historical manuscripts from the monastery’s collection, including the ‘Six-Day Nikon of Jerusalem’, as well as the life of Bishop Gerasim Petranović.
