Savona: Man detained after woman uses 'Signal for Help' to report alleged assault

A 46-year-old Serbian man has been detained in Savona following an alleged sexual assault on a 21-year-old woman. The incident occurred near bus stops adjacent to the local railway station.

The victim successfully utilized the 'Signal for Help' hand gesture to alert bystanders without alerting the aggressor. A 29-year-old witness observed the signal and immediately contacted emergency services via 112, allowing the Carabinieri to intervene and apprehend the suspect nearby.

The man, who is reportedly known to law enforcement and was homeless in Italy at the time, has been placed under detention for suspected sexual violence and transferred to the Genova Pontedecimo prison.
