Savona Province approves road upgrade protocols in Liguria

The Provincial Council of Savona unanimously approved two separate road‑development protocols. The first authorises the design and construction of a new alignment for SP 490 “del Colle del Melogno”, linking the municipalities of Bagnasco and Massimino. The plan includes a new road stretch connecting SS 28 to SP 490, a replacement bridge over the Tanaro river and aims to improve safety, flood resilience and traffic flow between the Val Tanaro, Val Bormida and the Ligurian coast.

The second protocol covers the “Piampaludo‑Monte Beigua‑Alpicella” route, spanning the municipalities of Varazze, Cogoleto, Stella and Sassello. Presented by Andrea Castellini, mayor of Stella and provincial vice‑president, the agreement sets out the design, execution and management of the road, with restoration work expected to finish by the end of 2017 and a strategic funding request to the Ligurian Region to be submitted later.

Both initiatives involve the Province of Savona, the Province of Cuneo, the Regions of Liguria and Piemonte and the respective local communes, seeking to strengthen internal connections, support local economies and enhance mobility across the border between Liguria and Piemonte.
