Savona to Stage Free Mahābhārata Performance at Fortezza del Priamar

The Indian epic Mahābhārata will be presented in a new youthful version at the Priamar Fortress in Savona on 3 August 2026. The production, directed by Stefania Lo Russo with texts adapted by Marco M. Pernich, will be performed free of charge by the student‑led company STN‑Studionovecento, featuring thirteen actors under 30.

The event is organized by the Unione Induista Italiana in collaboration with the Comune di Savona and the cultural association ASYA Om, and is financed through the 8XMille fund. Building on a sold‑out run in Milan the previous year, the performance explores universal themes of peace, war and dharma, aiming to foster dialogue and cultural exchange.

Svimani Hamsananda Ghiri, vice‑president of the Italian Hindu Union, highlighted the epic’s relevance, noting that “the heart of the Mahābhārata is dharma – a multidimensional reality that permeates every aspect of human existence.”
