Saxony-Anhalt election: Green candidate faces scrutiny over husband's past

As the state election in Saxony-Anhalt approaches, Green Party lead candidate Susan Sziborra-Seidlitz is facing scrutiny regarding the past of her husband, David Seidlitz. Reports have surfaced alleging that during the 1990s, David Seidlitz was a member of a group in the Harz region that was classified by anti-fascist groups as part of the far-right milieu.

Sziborra-Seidlitz has addressed these allegations, stating that her husband is now ‘absolutely without any doubt an anti-fascist’ and a ‘pure democrat.’ She noted that he was hired for his work with a Green Member of Parliament because he was the best candidate, rather than through nepotism.

The controversy comes at a sensitive time for the Green Party, which has positioned itself strongly against far-right politics during the campaign.
