Kerstin Lee Langley remains likely identified after 19-year disappearance

Authorities in Regensburg have announced a potential breakthrough in the 19-year-old cold case of Kerstin Lee Langley, who disappeared in the summer of 2007. Forensic examinations of human remains discovered on October 9 during excavations in Berg, near Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, indicate that the remains are with high probability those of Langley.

Investigators have identified three suspects believed to have jointly planned the killing. A 56-year-old woman provided a comprehensive confession that led police to the discovery site; her arrest warrant has been suspended due to her cooperation. A 66-year-old man is currently in custody and is accused of strangling the victim. A third suspect reportedly died in 2024.

While the investigation remains ongoing, the discovery of the remains provides significant new evidence in a case that has remained unsolved since Langley, then 39, vanished from Regensburg.
