Sayaji Hotel Indore kitchen sealed after food safety inspection

The Food Safety Department conducted a 10-hour inspection of the Sayaji Hotel in Indore following directives from Collector Shivam Verma. The investigation revealed significant hygiene and regulatory violations within the hotel’s kitchen and storage areas.

Authorities discovered approximately 66 kilograms of unpackaged non-vegetarian food lacking proper labeling and expiration dates. Inspectors also found vegetarian and non-vegetarian items stored together in the same refrigeration units. Other findings included moldy peanuts, rotten tomatoes and potatoes, and leaking tetra packs. The inspection team noted evidence of pests, including cockroaches and rat droppings, within the kitchen area.

Furthermore, the hotel’s food license was found to be insufficient, as it did not account for non-vegetarian activities or the in-house bakery and sweets operations. As a result of these findings, officials have revoked the hotel’s food license and sealed the kitchen. Samples of paneer, raw meat, and various dry fruits have been sent for laboratory testing.
