SAYCO celebrates 80 years of defending Colombian musical copyright

The Society of Authors and Composers of Colombia (SAYCO) celebrated its 80th anniversary with a gala at the Hotel El Dorado in Bogotá. The event honored the organization's history of defending copyright and supporting generations of Colombian creators.

During the ceremony, singer-songwriter Arelys Henao received the Santa Cecilia Order from SAYCO President Rafael Manjarrez in recognition of her 30-year career and her contribution to popular Colombian music. Additionally, a posthumous tribute was paid to artist and composer Yeison Jiménez; his widow, Sonia Restrepo, accepted the award on behalf of his family.

SAYCO currently represents nearly 10,000 authors, composers, and editors. The organization also highlighted its recent social efforts, including providing support to members affected by earthquakes in the Coffee Axis region.
