Sayf features in documentary filmed at Chiavari Prison

The documentary ‘Il cielo in una stanza’ (The Sky in a Room) is scheduled for release on YouTube on October 7. Filmed inside the Chiavari Prison in Genoa, Italy, the project features the artist Sayf engaging in dialogue with inmates.

Written by journalist Claudio Cabona and directed by Yuri Dellacasa, the film explores the role of music as a tool for therapy, cultural enrichment, and connection within the correctional facility. The documentary highlights the prison's music workshops, where Sayf reflects on the concept of freedom with detainees and listens to their rap music.

The work includes a tribute to Gino Paoli, whose classic song provides the title and a thematic thread for the narrative. The film concludes with Sayf performing a personal cover of ‘Il cielo in una stanza’ accompanied by a trumpet. The project was supported by Fondazione Compagnia San Paolo and falls under the activities of the association ‘Il Cuore di Federico’.
