SB19 and BINI submit entries for 2027 Grammy Awards

Filipino P-pop groups SB19 and BINI have announced their submissions for the 2027 Grammy Awards. The groups are participating in the Recording Academy’s new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, which has been a subject of debate among international artists regarding regional categorization.

SB19 has submitted “VISA” for Best Asian Pop Music Performance and “LAWLESS” for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. BINI is seeking consideration in three categories: Best Asian Pop Music Performance for “Unang Kilig,” Best Song Written for Visual Media for “A Parallel World,” and the Best New Artist category.

While some artists, such as BTS and Stray Kids, have expressed reservations about music being categorized by region, members of BINI and SB19 expressed optimism. BINI members Aiah and Maloi described the category as “a door opening, not a box closing,” while SB19 leader Pablo stated that participation demonstrates the Philippines is a source of world-class music rather than just a market.
