SBA declares disaster for three Connecticut counties after September floods

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has declared a disaster for Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield counties in Connecticut following flash flooding on September 13. The declaration was approved after Governor Ned Lamont requested assistance following damage assessments by state, local, and SBA officials.

Eligible recipients can apply for low-interest loans to aid in recovery. Homeowners may receive up to $500,000 for primary residence repairs, while homeowners and renters can access up to $100,000 for personal property replacement. Business owners and nonprofits are eligible for up to $2 million to cover physical losses or to provide working capital through Economic Injury Disaster Loans.

The deadline for physical damage loan applications is December 1, and the deadline for economic injury loans is July 2, 2027. An in-person outreach center will open at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center in Bridgeport starting October 7, with applications also available through the MySBA Loan Portal.
