SBASE and UADE to build new access for Independencia station

SBASE, the state company managing Buenos Aires subways, and the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE) have signed a cooperation agreement to build a new access point for the Independencia station. The project aims to alleviate severe pedestrian congestion caused by the high volume of students, with UADE estimating approximately 30,000 subway trips daily associated with its campus.

The planned infrastructure will feature an underground corridor crossing Avenida Independencia to connect directly with Lima Street. This new pedestrian link is designed to include a modern elevator to improve accessibility for users with reduced mobility at the junction of Lines C and E.

By providing an alternative entrance and an expansive underground walkway, the project intends to reduce sidewalk saturation and minimize traffic accidents by diverting pedestrians away from dangerous surface intersections during peak hours.
