Sébastien Chenu appointed to lead RN parliamentary group
Sébastien Chenu has been designated as the president of the Rassemblement National (RN) group in the French National Assembly. Announced during the party's congress on October 24, 2026, Chenu succeeds Marine Le Pen, who is stepping down from the role to focus on her 2027 presidential campaign.
Chenu, a deputy since 2017 and a current vice-president of the National Assembly, will manage the daily parliamentary work of RN deputies. This includes participating in the Conference of Presidents to organize agendas and debates, as well as managing speaking times and parliamentary assignments.
In related party developments, Jordan Bardella was re-elected as party president. Additionally, internal elections for the RN National Council saw deputy Jean-Philippe Tanguy finish in first place, serving as a measure of popularity among the party's members.
