Sébastien Delogu held in custody after dispute with Marseille police
French lawmaker Sébastien Delogu was held in police custody for eight hours in Marseille following a dispute with law enforcement officers. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 13 to face allegations of insulting public officials.
The incident occurred on Monday when three police officers attempted to enter Delogu’s building to arrest a suspect for watch theft. Delogu claims the officers failed to present their professional identification, leading him to block their entry. Conversely, police reports allege that the deputy physically opposed their progress and used insults toward the officers.
Both parties have filed complaints regarding the altercation. Delogu has alleged that an officer struck him in the chest, while officers reported being subjected to verbal abuse.
