Sébastien Loeb faces mechanical setbacks at Rallye du Maroc
French driver Sébastien Loeb faced a series of mechanical and administrative setbacks during the Rallye du Maroc. Driving a Dacia Sandrider, Loeb dealt with electrical failures in Agadir that stalled his vehicle for over ninety minutes, severely impacting his general classification ambitions.
In addition to technical issues, Loeb received a fifteen-hour penalty for being towed during the first stage after providing assistance to teammate Nasser Al-Attiyah. Despite these challenges, Loeb secured his twenty-fifth career rally-raid world championship stage victory by beating Carlos Sainz on the third day of the race.
However, his efforts were hampered in the final stage. Loeb reported that driving through dust created by Marek Goczal led to a difficult river crossing where he struck a large stone. This caused a broken steering linkage, leaving his vehicle heavily damaged and missing a front right wheel. The incident forced Loeb and co-driver Édouard Boulanger to be towed by an assistance truck, preventing a strong finish to the event.
