Sébastien Pocognoli set to become Scotland national team head coach

Sébastien Pocognoli is set to become the new head coach of the Scotland national football team. The 39-year-old Belgian manager, who previously led Union Saint-Gilloise to a Belgian league title, is expected to succeed Steve Clarke.

Pocognoli’s appointment follows a brief tenure at AS Monaco in Ligue 1. To assist in his new role, he has selected Luke Benstead to join his coaching staff. Benstead brings experience from the Belgian national team, where he worked under both Roberto Martínez and Domenico Tedesco between 2018 and 2025.

Pocognoli has committed to a mission that includes leading Scotland through the Nations League and aiming for qualification in the next European Championship. His first major task is scheduled for September 26 during a match against Slovenia.
