SBB cancels fan trains for FC Sion vs. FC Zürich match

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has announced that no special fan trains will be available for the FC Sion vs. FC Zürich football match scheduled for September 19, 2026.

The decision is due to extensive, long-planned construction work on the Visp–Brig and Bex–Villeneuve rail lines, which will limit network capacity throughout the entire weekend. While regular trains will operate via the Lötschberg Base Tunnel, SBB stated that operating and safety constraints prevent the use of fan trains on this route.

Fans are advised to travel individually using scheduled services, though SBB warns that trains are expected to be heavily crowded. The railway company noted it had previously informed the Swiss Football League and relevant clubs about the construction situation during the match scheduling process to allow for alternative travel planning.
