SBB to close Stein am Rhein travel center

The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has decided to close the staffed travel center at the Stein am Rhein station. Customers seeking in-person assistance will now need to travel to Schaffhausen or Winterthur.

The closure impacts a significant tourist hotspot. While the local mayor and the cantonal tourism organization expressed regret over the decision, they noted that the move is understandable given the declining usage of the center.
